Low arches, high arches, daily tennis slayers, and weekend tryhards, no matter who or what you are, if you play tennis, you need tennis shoes. Michelle Pits, who’s been playing for over 15 years, is here to help.

Michelle Pits, a sophomore at the University of Hawaii and qualifier for the Australian Open at just the age of 16 gives her piece.

Asics, an older competitor, has been making shoes since the early years of the 1950s. “Asics shoes tend to wear out easily,” said Pits when asked about her favorite tennis shoe. “I go through a pair of shoes in a few weeks. We’re changing shoes every 2-3 weeks which sucks. They’re really comfortable, though.”

Nike, which is one of, if not the widely used shoe brand available. A reputable brand with over 50 years of experience making running shoes, and over 40 years making tennis shoes. In this span of time, Nike has become some of the world’s best tennis players favorite shoe, including Serena Williams, who currently has her own collection, including the Nikecourt Flare.

“I prefer Nike, the designs a bit better,” said Pits, “I always used to wear one shoe and never changed that model. I’ve always used that for years and years until I got [to Hawaii].”

“[I’d recommend] Nike, but it really depends on the person.” Pits continued, “What you’ve been wearing your whole life and what’s comfortable.”
