Mentoring opportunity through JEA

Mentoring is one of the most rewarding experiences a teacher can take part in, and JEA offers that opportunity for experienced media teachers to work with new and inexperienced media teachers in their area. JEA values this experience tremendously and wants to continue to expand one of our signature programs–the Mentoring Program. To accomplish this, a team collaborated to create a digital training experience modeled off of the in-person training program.
Do you remember how impactful your mentor in your building or student teaching cooperating teacher was? Did you have a JEA mentor? Do you want to give back to the JEA community and the journalism education community?
If so, then we’d love for you to consider becoming a JEA mentor and here’s how you can do it:
  1. Fill out this form: https://forms.gle/TUE5cpBhLMV6F61y9
  2. Once your information is received and reviewed, you will receive an email about whether you have been selected to be trained as a mentor.
  3. The training window opens June 15, which will include two times you will be asked to sign up to participate in a Google Hangout about the Mentoring Program and next steps for mentoring.
  4. Congrats! You’re a mentor!
Yup… it’s that simple!
If you have any questions, please let me know and do not hesitate to reach out to me. The first training cycle will begin June 15 and all applications must be submitted by June 13 in order to partner potential members up, check references, and set everyone up who are interested to succeed.
Best,
PRJ
